ABSTRACT
In industrial drying applications, efficient transfer of heat and mass between a drying medium and material being dried is very critical for the overall economics of the operation. Hot air dryer are used to drying materials in the form of continuous sheets of materials such as paper and textiles, or in the form of granules or pallets.
This paper describes the principle and characteristics of High velocity hot air impingement drying system and recirculation drying system to reuse the latent heat of an exhaust humid gas at a high temperature hot air. Particularly its operating characteristics and energy efficiency were investigated by comparing to the conventional drying system in the experimental test. The results showed that the thermal efficiency was enhanced more about 20-30% than that of the conventional drying system. It is convinced that this system can be widely applied in various drying equipments such as the conveyor belt, pneumatic and fluidized bed as well as rotary dryer using hot air.
