Abstract
Open Source Software Research
Center (OSSRC) in Kookmin University, Korea is a student research group whose
objectives include building up open source software-based working environment.
The research area of OSSRC in KMU ranges from Linux-based package customization
for both desktop and server systems to low-power embedded system development
based on Linux. Recent accomplishment of OSSRC includes the development of a
novel system configuration utility for Linux desktop and server, integration
guideline for secured Linux system, and open source software-based VoIP
terminal. This presentation introduces the diverse activities of OSSRC in KMU
and the contribution of the center for establishing Korean Linux standard.

Biography
Sung-Soo Lim: Sung-Soo Lim is a faculty member in the
School of Computer Science at Kookmin University. His current research
interests include mobile convergence terminal, general embedded systems, and real-time
systems.
Before he joined the faculty of Kookmin University in 2004,
he was the technical director in a venture firm, PalmPalm Technology whose
major business area is Linux-based handheld device development. He received a
BS degree from the Department of Computer Engineering, Seoul National
University, in 1993; an MS degree from the Department of Computer Engineering,
Seoul National University, in 1995; and a Ph.D degree from the School of
Computer Science and Engineering, Seoul National University, in 2002.
