Discipline of the 21st Century?
Yong Min Kim: University of Washington
Abstract
1) Bioengineering is the
fastest growing engineering discipline
2) Produce a new generation
of bioengineers
3) Many frontiers in
biology, engineering and medicine need to be explored via interdisciplinary
research and collaboration
4) Integrating information
technology (IT), biotechnology (BT), nanotechnology (NT) and others can
revolutionize future medicine and healthcare and create tremendous opportunities
in the 21st century
5) RE technology
commercialization, we should do it and do it better due to not only our
responsibility with taxpayers monies supporting our research, but also for
benefiting mankind
