IPv6 Status in Korea

Abstract
It is
to provide information on research activities, and to introduce an IPv6
deployment status and plan in Korea. To promote IPv6 is to provide a strong
growth momentum from IPv6 sector to other IT industries. It is to deploy
various types of IPv6 networks, to develop commercial IPv6 equipments, to
verify and certify the IPv6 interoperability among those equipments, and
finally to provide an IPv6 trial service to users. All these activities are led
by IPv6 forum Korea. The forum works with international organizations and
foreign communities for IPv6 globalization.

Biography
Hyun-Kook Kahng : Hyun-Kook Kahng
is a Professor in the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering at Korea
University. His current research interests are in IPv6 transition, Mobile IP,
transport protocol design and analysis, multicast and QoS protocols.
Before he joined
the faculty of Korea University in 1994, he was a Senior Engineer in Protocol
Engineering Center at ETRI from 1991 to 1994 and an Editor in ITU-T X.601
¡°Multipeer Communications Framework¡± from 1988 to 2000, ITU-T X.602 "Group
Management Protocol¡± from 2001 to 2004. He is an IPv6-forum Korea Technical
Area Director from 2003. He received a BA degree from the Department of Electronics
Engineering, Korea University, in 1982; an ME degree from the Department of ¡¡Electrical Engineering University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, in 1984; and a
Ph.D degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, in 1990.
